New Line of Cheese Forms Partnership between Land, Cows, Family Farms and You

(April 11, 2013 - Willows, CA) – Sierra Nevada Cheese Company is proud to announce the launch of our new line of Graziers Cheeses. The line includes Natural Raw Cheddar, Natural Raw Sharp Cheddar, Natural Raw Mozzarella, Natural Raw Jack, and Natural Raw Jalapeno Jack. These natural raw cheeses are made from Graziers Certified grass-fed cow milk.

"Our neighboring dairy farms that subscribe to the alternative farming practice of intensive rotational grazing are truly the ones to be recognized for this wonderful line of cheese."

Our Graziers certified farmers are fortunate to be located in Northern California where the growing season is long and the climate is ideal for grazing, allowing the cows to be on pasture for more than 300 days of the year. This system permits the cows to fulfill their natural food seeking behaviors and provides them with a happy, healthy lifestyle. However, being able to provide this natural healthy diet requires our producers to carefully manage the pasture so that the plants are in the most favorable growth stage for the cows to eat.

"Our 'Graziers' commitment to the wellbeing of their animals and environmental stewardship is adherent to the foundation of a successful farming business, as much a way of life for the small family farm," Gregersen said. "Their dedication to producing consistent, premium milk in such a sustainable manor deserves a value added premium and we do just that."

The rotational grazing system used by our farmers has significantly reduced production costs, increasing profitability which allows Graziers family farms to truly thrive. In addition to our Graziers certification program being healthier for the cow and better for the environment, Graziers cheeses are healthier for you. Grass fed dairy products are up to four times higher and a great source of conjugated linoleic acids (CLA's), balanced Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, Vitamins and Minerals. CLA's are a good type of fat that may protect the body from cancer formation and progression.

Sierra Nevada Cheese Company Introduces The Country’s First Low Fat Goat Yogurt in Single Serve Cups

(March 8, 2011 - Willows, CA) – Yogurt lovers now have a creamy, fruity, low-fat, goat milk option, and they can take it with them. Sierra Nevada Cheese Company expands their award-winning Capretta Goat Yogurt collection to include new 6-ounce single-serve cups of low fat yogurt in plain, vanilla, strawberry and blueberry flavors. The new Capretta Goat Yogurt cups retail for around $2.20 each.

Capretta Goat Yogurt cups are the first low-fat goat yogurt available in the country. They come in a 6-ounce eco-friendly cup, containing 50% less plastic than standard cups, and it’s wrapped in a paper sleeve that is easily removed for recycling. The strawberry and blueberry flavors are made with organic fruit, and organic vanilla is used in the vanilla flavor. These ingredients are lovingly stirred into the creamy yogurt, offering maximum flavor in every bite.

Sierra Nevada Cheese Company Launches New Raw Milk Cheeses

(November 18, 2010 - Willows, CA) – Sierra Nevada Cheese Company has launched two new product lines in response to market demand for raw cheeses: Raw Organic Cows’ Milk cheeses and Caprae Raw Goats’ Milk cheeses. The fresh raw milk used in these products is purchased from family-run dairies in Northern California. Using milk in its natural, raw state and heating it only to 104 degrees Fahrenheit preserves its full, original nutritional value. Seasonal variations in raw milk accentuate a diverse range of flavors and enhance our artisan cheeses, which are aged 60 days or more. These items are available in 8-ounce retail packages, and in 5-pound bulk loaves for food service or in-store cut & wrap uses.
